About Us

Gloria Parkinson

President and founder of The Parkinson Group, Gloria has many years' experience as a writer and producer for print, video, audio, television, and theater. Gloria has scripted corporate multimedia learning programs, researched and written training and reference manuals, and assembled teams that have produced award-winning creative projects--from monthly consumer publications to cultural events. Before moving to the United States from her native England in 1980, Gloria was a producer and director in professional theater.

She has served as an advisor to the Arts Council of Great Britain and a trustee of the Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama (London)

Gloria holds an M.A. in writing from Brown University, an A.B. in English from Harvard University, and a Teaching Diploma from the Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama (London). She has been a fellow of the Bunting Institute at Radcliffe College; a recipient of fellowships from the Arts Council of Great Britain; a visiting artist at Radcliffe; and a lecturer at Wellesley College. Gloria is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and a past member of the National Association of Science Writers, and the American Medical Writers Association.

Gloria is actively involved in her local community in Clinton, Massachusetts. She is a trustee of the Bigelow Free Public Library (an elected office); a director of the Clinton Greenway Conservation Trust www.clintongreenway.com; and chair of the town of Clinton’s Rauscher Farm Management Subcommittee that manages the town-owned 62 acre Rauscher Farm conservation land under the guidance and supervision of the town’s Conservation Commission.

As vice president and treasurer of The Parkinson Group, Inc.  Jim researched, wrote, and edited content and managed various Parkinson Group projects. He has edited hundreds of medical papers for submission to medical journals and has written many business proposals, reports, and presentations that bridge the chasm between the language of  technology and the language of non-specialists.

Jim has many years’ experience writing and editing business proposals and bid responses, managing proposal teams, and managing delivery of projects implemented for state and local government agencies including police, fire, EMS, and hospital radio systems and  mobile data systems.

His community involvement includes serving as treasurer and a director of the Clinton Greenway Conservation Trust, and as  a member of the town- appointed Rauscher Farm Management Subcommittee. Jim is one of several volunteers who do year-round maintenance, reclamation, and oversight of the Rauscher Farm property.

Jim holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, and a Certificate in Training and Development from Boston University for instructional design.  He is a past  member of the the American Medical Writers Association, the National Association of Science Writers, and the American Proposal Writers Association.
